When someone is placed under arrest, they are then transported to the main jail for intake processing. Also, referred to as “booking”, this procedure consists of finger printing and listing of the pending charges and monetary bond amounts with regards to those charges. Once the individual is booked, the bonding/release process can begin.
Release options are fairly simple. Depending on the circumstances/charges, at least one of the following conditions would apply:
- Standard bond amount per charge
- Standard bond amount per charge in addition to release conditions set by the court
- Pre-trial release
- Cash bond deposit
No. A cash purge or any type of payment obligation that resulted from a court decision (for example, child support) must be paid in full to the Clerk of Court. These particular fees can not be brought current by the posting of a bail bond. Occasionally, someone will be arrested and in the booking process there will be notice of fees due from a prior case. A bail bond can be posted for the new charges, however, be aware that the old overdue fees must be paid to the Clerk of Court prior to gaining release.
The release process is controlled by the Sheriff’s office. Upon receipt of our bond, the defendant is placed on the “Bond Out” status list. Under normal circumstances, the release is processed on the next shift.
